How does the Activator Method work?
The doctor has you lie face down on a table and then uses specific protocols including tests that you participate in to identify spinal and extremity joint dysfunction. By analyzing leg length changes, the doctor is able to identify which spinal and extremity joints need adjusting because of faulty body mechanics and abnormal neurological reflexes. This gentle and comfortable technique, which has been used safely on people of all ages since the late 1960s, helps restore spinal and postural balance, and it also helps the doctor not only know when and where to adjust, but also when not to adjust because of it’s precise research-based analysis.
What does the Adjusting Instrument do?
The unique hand-held Activator instrument provides a controlled, fast thrust that is comfortable for the patient.
Adjustments with the Activator are so quick and measured that the body’s muscles are less likely to resist resulting in a more precise and accurate treatment.
The small surface area of the Activator tip makes it ideal to adjust not only spinal joints, but also extremities including the knees, elbows, wrists, and even the jaw.
The ACTIVATOR V (pictured to the right) is the first FDA registered and approved electronic and cordless chiropractic adjustment instrument of its kind.
Research
The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique is one of the most widely-researched techniques and the only instrument adjusting technique with 23 clinical trials to support its efficacy. Activator Methods has published hundreds of clinical and scientific peer-reviewed papers, worked with major academic research institutions, and received grants from recognized entities like the National Institutes of Health.
It’s also the only instrument adjusting technique taught in chiropractic colleges and universities worldwide.

Certification
Dr. Nedd became Proficiency Rated with Activator Methods® while still in chiropractic college. He attained the status of Advanced Proficiency rated in November of 1990 and has maintained that status ever since with the minimum requirement of attending at least one Activator Methods seminar each year.
In July of 2006, Dr. Nedd became an Associate Clinical Instructor for Activator Methods® and assisted in instructing other chiropractors at the annual Activator Methods® seminar in Orlando for 12 years.
